I'll get some more pictures this weekend, but I've had this axle for about 12 years or so. I bought a 32 chassis that came from under a heavily chopped and channeled five window. This axle was under that frame and supposedly was under that five window since the late 50's or early 60's. That's as much as I know. I need to give it a thorough inspection this weekend , and get some more pictures, but figured I'd see what the consensus was. I thought initially it was filled, but in looking recently, I am fairly sure the drop sections are welded in. So, what do you guys think?

Weld area. Looks more like a weld in person than in the pictures.

Perch and kingpin width are both within a half inch of 32-6 dimensions at a quick check.

  3. Looks like a dropped and filled axle, judging by how it "pulls" down from the king pin boss.
Not to say it couldn't be a fabricated axle; but ones I have seen usually have had more clearance built into that area.
Also, the pictures I've seen of actual Oakie axles are considerably different in appearance.

I'm going to try and clean it up and look it over this weekend. May very well be dropped and filled, I initially assumed it was.

There are, or perhaps it's peaked, but either way, it comes to a sharper point than the wide, flat forging line on the rest of the axle.
