Hey guys here are a few pictures of my project, 31 Slant window 4dr. I started with a bare frame and have been gathering parts. Last weekend I finally got my hands on a body at a local Model A auction. I'm undecided on chop/channel so if anyone wants to throw their opinion in feel free!
Good to see that body going to good use. I saw you guys load it up at the auction. I wasn't able to buy the car I wanted, but did pick up a rolling chassis.
Ya I was surprised it didn't draw more bidders, I think a few of the cars went for too much and a few went lower than I'd imagined. I'm in Bartlesville, Ok
I bid on the lil red 5 window. The same one that is now for sale on CL http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/4695798288.html
What did it sell for? Too bad people go out and buy these just to jack up the price when there are guys out looking to get them back on the road
I've been debating with what to do as far as ride height. I'm considering a 4" step in rear of frame, 4" channel, and a 2" chop. I want to retain as much interior space as I can. Anyone have any experience with this combo or something similar?
By four inch channel I hope you mean frame width channel? I'm not a big fan of the rigs with the bottom of the cowl hanging several inches below the bottom of the frame rail. The frame looks good, I wish mine was that far along.
I've decided to not channel the body but give it a 2" haircut and run full fendered. Working on bracing the body in my limited spare time with scraps laying around
Made little progress this eve after being let down by my local gas supplier giving me a dud C25 cylinder... Thanks Thompson Bros.!! Think I'll be using airgas from now on
Looking good! Glad to hear that you are doing something other than trying to make a buck with one of the cars from that auction.
I've seen frames and bodies on CL going for triple what they paid at the auction! greed Keep it vintage....
Where did you find it Swiss? Last week A buddy sent me a pic of one on facebook for $1800, within 5 hrs they dropped the price $500. I should've bought it but finding room to keep it out of weather would be a challenge right now
Should have bought it! Most of them have been in the weather for 85 years!!! No point is keeping it inside all of a sudden!!
"I've decided to not channel the body but give it a 2" haircut and run full fendered." See if you can Photoshop the car with a frame width channel, too. I think it would be spectacular! My '32 sedan is more chopped and non fendered, but that is the way I tried to do it in Tulsa 60 years ago.
