I know this is a total long shot.I have a few beers in me and was wonderin if anyone who knows about the races in the 50s remembers a guy named Jerry White ,He raced in Jersey at Wall and Old Bridge,The guy was covered in tattoos and ran a 35 or 36 5 window as well as a 37 humpback. Some folks from Marshall Texas might remember him also as he was always foolin with a 34 roadster.

wish my dad was still around to ask (he p***ed away about 5 years ago),,,he raced wall stadium back in about 56-58 (my mom (she actually drove in what they used to call the powder puff derby) made him quit when i was born)..he's in the hall of fame,,,actually came first in points in the sportsman cl*** one year (cant remember which),,,he would remember the guy for sure........i have my dads nascar pin from back then, an awesome trophy he won,,,,,also, they used to give trophies for spectacular crashes,,he had one that was an upside down car on top of a globe,,it was the coolest thing,,,,,,,,,,,he told me all kinds of cool and crazy stories,,i will post some of them one day,,,,,my dad chopped a merc back in the 50s too,,,if i had a scanner, i would post the pic,,its my favorite picture of him i have,,the merc is up on blocks with top chopped and primer on the posts,,hes standing in the foreground,,,skinny as a rail with the typical white t-shirt of the era,,haha,,,,when i look at that picture,,i know where my obsession with kustoms comes from,

Yeah man...They'd definitely know one another.1956 and 57 is when he raced because my father was there one night and described Don Antonellis ,Les Cove built 54 Merc to a T before it was chopped. He told me that that powder blue Merc was the coolest thing he ever saw in his life and I showed him the pic of the car on the cover of Rodding and Restyling .My own father looked at me and told me that he thought I have a degree of autism.

Over a decade ago My freind and I bought a old X-super stock 68 camaro from a guy in Paramus NJ . The car was owned by Augie Vetterino . The car came with bent wheelie bars and 10,000 rpm chips as a launch limiter .The car was painted with Red candy paint and the 70's-80's stripes . The car was acid dipped and the front koni shocks were dated 1973 . My friend sold this car to a guy in Ct.and havent seen it since . If anybody has seen this car let me know .
