Man...first all we hear is that the "big" magazines are too filled with billet goldchainer crap...

...then along comes a real, live magazine that features cool and crude cars built by teens who couldn't get anyone to help 'em chop their four door 50s tanker, so they did it themselves a bunch of times till THEY liked the way it looked...

...who CARES if he drives it while he finishes it???

Stuff like that makes me GLAD to fork over six bucks every couple of months...show me REAL cars built by average guys and gals...it's a refreshing contrast to the high dollar, built-on-commission-for-checkwriters cars that we see in mainstream mags...and I'm glad to have the new mag to look forward to!

Yeah, the goofy-ass lifestyle stuff is comical...it adds a sense of FUN (oh shit...not FUN!) to the atmosphere of the mag and shows that it doesn't take itself too seriously!

"WWWAAAAAHHHHH...the big magazines are full of Goldchainers!"

okay, check out this new mag

"WWAAAAAAAAHHHH...it's got a funny name and greasers with primered cars in it!"

Damn...can't make you HAPPY...go read Playgirl!

First off....thanks to the people who stand up for my photography and articles. I appreciate it.

And to you bleedy fucking vaginas IF YOU HAVE A FUCKIN PROBLEM WITH MY STUFF SAY IT TO MY FACE! If you can shoot better pictures than me and write better articles then DO IT! You brave Keyboard warriors!

Why don't you turn on your boob tubes and watch monster garage or Orange county choppers or Amercan hot rod. Seems like so much cry baby shit goes on here. Some of you fuckers are not happy unless you are constantly crying about shit and what other people are doing.

OL Skool Rodz is paying for my tutition photo equipment etc etc. How many of you get to say you get paid for doing what you love......and for me that is shooting cars. Maybe some of you should get pay checks for constantly complaining and bitching and pissing and moaning.

I know I am not the best writer or photographer.......but lets see you panzy assholes that criticize do any better. Cmon' put up or shut up! I realy would like to see how much better you can do.

Don't like it don't buy it! About the people who are not getting their stuff.........I'll do my best to ask around about getting it sent to you. PM if ya like with your addresses.

Do I love every car featured in there.......no way. But thats why they have menu's in Restaurants don't they. If it were my mag I would do things differently......but it's not my mag.......I give up on this thread what a waste of my energy. Lets the crtics cry.....you fuck's can't bring me down or my art.

    Michael Harrington

801-652-3458 you wanna talk to me and tell me how rotton my photo's are be and man and give me a call.

Finally Mike showed up, now I can make this post a 5 star! I don't know why this is still going on. I feel a tech week coming on....

  6. Whoa, didn't know you did the photos for that mag, Buick59? Lucky man you are... of course, you've got the talent to back it up!

I don't mind the mag at all, really. It really is just old school rods adn kustoms... Rod and Custom is cool, but it and even Custom Rodder hides under the fact it's all pushed by people who sell all that expensive billet shit. While I think Ol' Skool needs some work in a few places... for the 2 issues I've seen, they've done a great job. I'd like to see it continue and I hope they get the damn thing abck at the locar store..

Gee that's an unbiased opinion. Did anyone say anything bad about your work? Go back and re-read the posts.

Make no mistake, your photography is top notch. And Mike, if it makes you feel any better, I thought the stuff you've contributed so far was probably the best part of the magazine(s). It almost made me want to buy a copy.

Ahhh, the joy of the internet...making opinions accessible worldwide.

I just bought 4 copies of Magneto. It completely rocks. First time I've seen it.

Bass, you make a very good point on target audience. I think there is some overlap between the greasers, the wanna be greasers and some HAMBers. But it is pretty stupified. I'll still buy it. Hell, I spent $25 on hot rod mags last night, which puts me about 10 magazines behind in my reading. My name is Django and I'm a caraholic. I even still subscribe to Street Rodder. But I flip through them and give them to my dad. Its his fault. I blame all this on him. [IMG]

Foiled, you are without a doubt one of the funniest dudes on the HAMB. That shit is hilarious.

I saw the first issue of "ol skool rodz" (Jesus that name is gay) and I wasn't impressed.

That 50's caddy in the 1st issue that was owned by the tattoo guy has to be one of the ugliest, most overdone pieces of shit I've ever seen in recent years. I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than look at that thing again.

Considering their target market, I think they would sell more magazines if they had a section in the back devoted to cute rockerbilly hairstyles and outfits for men.

The pics from that article totally rule. Magazine sub prices are so small in comparison to the woodrow I get from that type of shoot that you'll never hear me complain. [IMG]

thanks for all the moral back-up guys.
yes its not the best mag I have seen, but I buy almost all the custom-hotrod related literature I can find.
I buy them to get ideas on what looks good, and more important what does NOT .

Man guys this mag rocks. I have learned alot from the 2nd issue concerning the juice brakes and the article about the high school kid was great. This magazine is about us and our old school rat rods. We have to support these guys if not then all we get to look at is billet and polished aluminum. If you want that then you should have subscribed to Street rodder or Hot Rod magazine. I can't wait to get the new one. I heard it has that Model A that has the HEMI.

Maybe WE can send you a MAG I will check,,

Truth being MIKE is a TOP CHARACTER,
he is a FRIEND who goes out of his way to make our TRIP to UTAH a TREASURE CHEST,,,,,,,,,

The LAD to me is a HAMB MET FRIEND and what he does I will support, because he is YOUNG and EAGER and he LEADS instead of FOLLOWS,,,
Most of the PICTURES are SHIT, But I have FOUND some of MIKES stuff to BE GOOD.......

The banter TEENAGE DREAM shit in that MAGAZINE is what RUINS its SERIOUSNESS,,,otherwise it's a DECENT thing to read and see what is going on in the MINDS of those WHO "JUST DONT GET WHY I BUILD HOT RODS" or why JIMMY BUILDS HOT RODS".... or why COLE builds KUSTOMS,,,,,

I feel that I truely am a FEW STEPS ahead of that CAR CLUB GREASER FAGGOT shit,,,,,,
and that FEELING is a GOOD one after I see that GUY SLOPPED down in his RAT ROD PICK UP TRUCK,,,,

He needs a SUPERMAN CUSTOM ON with the "S" for SICKBOY,,,,,,

    HANG TOUGH MIKE,
HOLLER if you need any MATERIAL to SHOOT,,,
WE have the UNDERGROUND and it isn't even EXPOSED,,,,

My buddy Cal picked one up, It looked okay but i didn't see much of it. He said it was an improvment. However I still remain skeptical of rods spelled with a Z.

I am lost for words right now after reading all these posts!!!! All you fuckin bitchers will probably buy issue #4 when it comes out! I can see why you would be pissed if you got a subscription and didn't receive the mag. Sure the magazine seams a little scrambled up, but I am a little scrambled too. It is funny beacause half the people on here do not have cars, please do not get mad by that statement, I give credit for the greaser from chicago who wrote the article on the highone, it was fuckin 20 degrees out and we were riding around Chicago for about 3 hours!! That is all I have to say, thanks abomber, plowboy you are gay, and in the article I refer to broncojohn that is aka continentaljohn, thanks to you too!! And God bless our heros that are fucking dying everyday so we can bitch about a fuckin magazine!!!! I love you all!!!! one more thing i love you to JESSE JAMES,

I'm not going to rant or rave about the mag. But I will say this, I do enjoy it because here in "Squirrel Nuts" Arkansas the Kustom Kulture or what ever it's being refered to these days, is slim to non. Me and one other guy are the only two in Central Arkansas thats into this shit and he never comes to anything locally. The rest of the guys are in LA(Lower Arkansas), or up North. I think there are what like six or seven HAMBer's on this site. Now I'm sure there are more but out here its 4X4's and muscle cars. The reason I wont bitch about the mag itself is because and not a photographer nor a writer so I have no business criticizing either. SO, with that said I enjoy the mag and it makes me jealous as hell that I'm not in SoCal. Oh well, maybe when the west coast starts to REALLY fall into the ocean ya'll can move out here to Arkansas with us and ol'"El Polacko" ! [IMG]

Look I don't see why you guys are so hard on OSR. I"ll admit the first issue was a little ruff, the name is a bit hokey, and Jessie's entire car should have been in at least one shot. You can't see the flow of a nice custom from a bunch of dis-jointed art shots. But as much as we have all bitched about that I don't think they will make that mistake again. How many of you were completly satisfied with your first car build, or your first attempt at painting or pinstriping? To me this issue is their best yet. This mag beats the ones all the arm-chair experts out there are NOT publishing. The perfect Magazine? no. Room for improvement? Sure, but give 'em a chance. I think if a guy was on a street corner passing out C notes, some of you would bitch cause he didn't have the hundred in smaller bills.

Yeah, I have not been super happy with is so far and I am planning on buying them still to watch the evolution of it.

Everyone raved about the Buckaroo stuff and I subscribed to them for two years and I was bored with them so I dumped them...I didn't like the way they evolved. Delux has been pretty good most of the time and I think OSR has potential. I gonna give them time and support them myself...not ever mag can be TRJ or Hop Up out the gate [IMG]

i agree with that jesse's car should have been in at least one shot. (like the whole thing. not a shot of the seatbelts) even though the 1st issue was a disappointment, i have the 2nd and 3rd issues and they are gettin better. for instance they have a great article on this 26 T (that has plenty of great shots) that looks fricken awsome.
