maybe I am just behind time, but the wife had to have surgery yesterday, so I stopped at the newsstand to see if I could find something to do while I spent my day at the hospital. Hoping to find something car related that I havent allready looked at. Found this mag, and it freakin rocks. Nothing but old school rods, cool pics, and none of the "politically correct" bull***** like the other mags. If ya like old school, this is for you....check it out...To
Its on the newstands. Roy from the Road Rockets got a feature in it.. I have not seen it yet ROY>..... Thom
I haven't seen it yet, but from the discussions on here, quite a few people think it is a shallow attempt at capitalizing on a fad. I am gonna check it out when I get a chance. JT.
I picked one up last nite in Houston.....flipped through it this morning, but will read it in depth in the following days.....Skratch article,Jimmy Shine,Jack Rudy, and more...buy one and judge for yourselves,if you like it,you'll be back....if not you probably won't. Personally, I plan to follow it and see how it develops.
In my opinion, the other mags seem to run the same ol stuff. Every month they have some big dollar street rods, some 32 Fords that have been nice for 40-50 years, etc. I want to see engineering I can handle, low dollar changes I can make, people building cars that don't have unlimited resources, a well equipted garage, and the like. I don't wanna build a show car, I want something fun my family and myself can have fun in. Something I can let my friends drive and not have to worry, and maybe convert one or two of them to these old hot rods. thats why I enjoy this board so much, I don't know***** bout builing these old cars, but have learned alot from the good people here. Safe and fun, those are my goals, FWIW...Scott
I found it tonight, and am reading it now. I like it, however I get the same vibe as the first HotRod Deluxe......so they are following that as an enxample. I like it enough to subscribe. T
I got a promo copy at the Ty-Rods show this year. Will reserve judgement until I see the real thing. Ray
saw it yesterday, was alright, but I thought the photography of the cars left a little to be disered. Looked like an alright rag though. -J.
bought mine last night at Barnes & Nobles... Did you know that the TRJ has three different covers this month instead of the normal 2?
[ QUOTE ] damnit i hate where i live. If i want to find one I'll have to make a road trip...arg.... [/ QUOTE ] you don't like to DRIVE?!?! the zine is OK. It definitely feels like it's trying to capitalize on a fad, but they get a lot of credit for having a lot of cars from places other than California. Despite the opinions of some people on this board, there are some nice cars being built outside of a state with year round nice weather.
http://www.olskoolrodz.com/ Heres the web site for them. BigFink met Bill Dillan he is on the Rodz Squad at the kkoa show in lancaster. Got his card and said he was going to put out the mag. I havent seen it yet but it sounds like he did it. from what i was told they are affiated with horse.
