Photos from various Local So Cal High School Yearbooks in the 1950's and late 40's .... More to come...
This one is from 1945 Santa Monica HS Yearbook...... Looks like the Hot Rodder ( What a Hoodlum) and giving the bird to everyone, and its not real politically correct with the kid who just received his grades...
Very cool stuff. Was having whole pages of advertising in a highschool yearbook really acceptable practice back then?
A lot of the local businesses advertised in our yearbooks, I graduated in '63 from Bonita High in la Verne Ca.
It still is, apparently. My elementary school did (small school with K-12 all in one building), and that allowed them to give us the yearbooks for free. Hell, we have to pay $60 for our senior yearbook at my current highschool, and those still have ads!
Yep all the adverts / sponsorships are in the back on these ( a few with 0 ) many Yearbooks....amazing to see the places I used to hang out in Fullerton, Ca. with pictures address and phone numbers. Many, Many are gone but live on in these yearbooks...its amazing the old jalopies I find in the mid thirties to mid fifties yearbooks, and the Hot Rods..Speed Shops, Dealerships, Malt Shops and Burger Joints Etc...that advertise in them...I will Post more soon... All HAMB friendly of course...
Seems Like it...the more you get into the yearbooks in the mid forties to late fifties, the Ads are with Photographs...the early Ads in the older yearbooks not so much...
