Hay guys, I'm trying to get a set of 1926 California issued to my 1926 Model T Jalopy. The Califorina DMV wants them painted the color of that year. Can anyone tell me what that color was? My plates are good but I can not tell what color they used to be. Looks like black with gray numbers. Thanks for the help jughead26
1919 is white ... 1926 looks brown ... 1929 is black ... I believe they changed colors every year ...
http://www.davesclp.com/california.htm but first try another dmv office, one wanted me to restore my '36 plates BEFORE registering them, went to another office later in the week and they are now registered to my car........un restored.
I have a 26 with 26 plates.... They were a dirty blue with off white(cream letters)... I took them in and the dmv said I had to restore them first... I came back two days later and talked to a diff. person and they put em through just as they were. Mine look a lot more patina'd then the ones pictured earlier in this thread... EVILT
From Dave's CLP link above: I got my '34 original plates from him. He gave me the cheapest set he had ($114) and I am very happy with them! The front plate was cracked and he told me this before I bought. He also offers a 90 day guarantee that they can be registered as YOM plates in CA!
