I heard it gets lonely in parts of Arizona and sheep make great pets. Or maybe that shield was blocking your vision.

Went on a Hot Rod/Motorcycle run and Campout once. The tradition was that the last one out of bed was fair game to be pranked. My buddy had been pranked already the day before when we backed the exhaust of a Harley into his tent and fired it up. To protect himself the next night he took his German Shepherd in with him. Next morning he was last one up again. This time a Bull Terrier was thrown in with the Shepherd. The resulting rukus made the tent look like the Tazmanian Devil was inside.
Over here it's normal to flip them over, wait, flip back, and that often does the trick. If the all the parts are there and it dosent leak.
Just pulled the trigger on this 59(?) ,Yellowstone.Outside looks good but the inside is trash!!. All pink appliances too. This will be a static one in lieu of a building on my lawn along the Niagara River. Shhhhhhh,, cant be taxed.Wish me luck on the 250 mile adventure coming home.
I've refurbished the camper , peeled the roof off , resealed it , added insulation where there were gaps , restained the siding , added waste tank, added mains power, Modified the rims , changed the 15" by fitting 16"x7" and fitted 245.75.16 E load tires , built a rear sway bar, added blocks (teflon) to the overload springs . Truck is nice and stable now and a joy to drive with the camper on.
Be Bery Bery Careful of rotted tires and wheels bearing that spin good at the sales piont and freeze up the furthest distance from home and a parts house.
New tires and wheels,repacked bearings coming.I have looked for every Tractor Supply etc along my route home.Taking a main back road that basically the same length as the 90 thruway but has plenty of stopping points to it.Trip will most likely take me 6hrs + but thats just fine.Besides the Staties have their hands full looking for two runaways and dont have time for clowns pulling campers to watchout for. Old Campers and Cars are so much alike.We fall in love at first sight,get those"Big Idiers",drag it home,then after a couple days say,Holy Crap,what did I get myself into????But I really enjoy the journey and I bet you do too!!!
Has any of the trailers made by Kaunetz family business, Bay City, Michigan; known survived until present? These would be the ultimate styling, nothing even comes close. Reproduction based on Kauneel drawings could be good business? (If there are any survived drawings?)
Tinsled I agree. This trailer and many other old early RV's look great. Even the early pre Airstream is a nice camper design. It amazes me all of the early 5th wheel styles that were out. We've camped all our lives and rarely seen any of those types except in museums. I guess they became chicken houses and finally rotted away.

I haven't heard of any - and there's interest around here in that part of the history, so I'd think there's a good chance we'd hear.

You're probably right, wooden framed trailer bodies, probably utilizing much plywood paneling, are not very likely to survive test of 60-70 years. Especially that they were quite large by the pictures. Thus no shelter after the active camping life was over. Still, it would be very interesting to learn, was any of the Kaunitz(Kauneel) company heritage preserved? If there were survived blueprints, it would be possible to start repro business. I would imagine that at least in the U.S.A. there would be sufficient market demand for well build period true campers.
Hey DeLuxe dude, Does this thread make HAMB less for you? Some people are interested in more than one thing, thus the same guys who build rods or/and customs may be interested in same period accessories & life style as the cars are. My guess is that a purified one idea forum is a dead forum...
I think old trailers are just as On Topic as rumble seats in a 35 Ford or hood ornaments on a 47 Cadillac . They don't make the car go faster so they aren't exactly "Hot Rod" but no one would consider them "Off Topic". Many Hot Rod events have included antique trailers for many years. One week long Hot Rod event in MD has had what they call Shasta Town (after the old Shasta campers) for many years.
