There was a post recently about the Tex smith books and value , I was suprised to hear that they bring a fair amount of money ?

Is there any old magazines that are worth anything ? I don't follow the value of things like that very close cause there are so many titles , etc

I have some early to mid 70's Popular Hot Rodding, Rod Action and Dirt Bike mags, plus some other old non-popular titles

Probably the king of old automotive mags in value are the first 6 issues of Hot Rod from 1948. Any 1st issue, Vol. 1 No. 1, has value no matter what. Full sets of short run magazines like Street Rod in the 70s can be of some value too.
Hot Rod Mechanix and any other Tex Smith book or publication have a good following since he is probably the most popular writer in the hot rod hobby...ever.

Yes, Tex was the first editor of Rod Action, I believe. When I have sold magazines I put them on eBay and let the market decide. Often I've gotten far more than I dreamed for them, other times...less.

I got a box of magazines from a guy on the HAMB. There was one from the 1940s in there.

  10. My dad and I used to take a custom built trailer that held about 20,000 car mags and there were another 40 K at home. He sold the whole collection and it took the guy 3 weeks, 2 helpers and a U-haul truck to box them all up and get them out of there.

Any Hot Rod or Popular Hot Rod from the 70's and 80's isnt worth anything. We would sell those for 50 cents to a dollor each. The Dirt Bike mags (if older like the 70's) might be worth something, Rod Action would be in the 1-2 dollor pile unless they were the first few issues, Car Craft isn't worth crap unless its the first few issues, any little mags are a minimum of 5 bucks each, Hot Rod from the 60's = 2-5 bucks each, 50's and 40's are alot more. The Tex Smith books if used 10-15 (they're 20 new), Rods and Customs from the 60's are 5 bucks each, 1001 Custom & Rod Ideas are about 5 bucks, Rod & Custom from the 60's (big issues) 5 each and about 2.50 for the later ones unless it's an annual then it's 5,Customs Illistrated are 5 each
Keep in mind that these are fair swapmeet values and if you were going to put them up on ebag these would be the starting bid. People get retarded on ebay.

I am always looking for issues of Northwest Rod, Northwest Rods, and Northwest Rods and Sports Cars they are little ones.
