Old Dominion Speedway

Old Dominion Speedway is having a car show & Nostalgia Drag Races on Sunday August 19th. Always a good time and you see a few of your old buddy's. Gates open at 8am....JT

 

I heard that this is the last one, because the property is going to be developed.Is that true?

 

I understand that this might be it. I'd like to take another p*** down it and maybe gather up a little dirt from the pits and save it for memory. Man***as was what you did on a friday night, thats what started the whole weekend.

 

Agreed- this is a GREAT event.

And it's a good opportunity to see fellow HAMBers.

 

Back up top for J.T. and the rest of the Virginia HAMBsters. Maybe I will try to make it to this, especially if it's going to be the end.

 

This is the first track that some of the S&S Team ever raced at. It's sad that it's the last year.

JT see you there. We have a few cars planning on traveling down to Old Dominion. Great show for those that haven't been there. Hope to get my son-law to make the trip in his willys. I hope to see the 56 are you going to run her???

Hate to see another great part of drag racing history lost to another mall or housing complex.

That reminds me that I should make another decal which say's

"Tear Down a Mall and Build a Drag Strip"

We have lost so many great drag strips and circle tracks to concrete malls and subdivisions that it makes me sick thinking about it.

Wish I could make it up there for this one. ODS was only about 10 miles from my old house. Cool, historic track. Hate to think of it being gone. Take lots of pics for us that can't make it.

Anyone out there remember Haleys Comet (40's Willy's 2dr sedan). A club I was in from Purseville, VA (Track Bruisers) put the old car back together with a small block and ran it at Old Dominion a couple of times, didn't run worth a **** but we had fun back then (I think that was about the mid to late 60's).
I would like to try and make this show???

I wonder if Jack the photographer will be there? I need another JA (Jack Approved) decal, remember them?

 

I didn't make it last year, but made all prior years. The circle track is always full with show cars.
