His '37 Chevy coupe, which I inherited when he died, is the car that brought me here to the HAMB.

Here are a couple of my oldest brother, Larry. These were taken in about 1960 -1962. The 56 had a 265 and a 3 speed. The 60 pickup had a 235 with a 3 speed, and was purchased new at Bomberger's Chevrolet in Polo Ill.

Two more;sure do miss my dad....

  17. Here's a few of my Dads 34 Chevy. Me on the running board and Mom preg with #2 kid out of an eventual 12. It had 292 jimmy, 5 carb set up, cut-outs on drivers side and ran it at Houston Int Raceway in the 50's. He did all the custom work to it (He had Motroreco do the engine build - AJ Foyt family biz) louvers, paint, striping. Dad's mug and the car even made the front page of the Houston Press in March 25, 1958 right after Elvis was inducted. Dad made the front cover, Elvis was on second page.

I'm proud to say that my Dad was an original rebel when most people had no idea what the hell one was and if they did were scared to death of them. After that pic was taken he grew his hair past shoulders and added an earring.

I was very fortunate to have grwon up with a Dad who did things his own way. Most people think what theya re doing ow, rebel wise is something new. Not hardly.

  18. My Dad sent me this one. He calls it "Don begins his career" since I became a mechanic and was the only son to do so. Dad is on the drivers side, I am leaning over the fender. Dad put a sort of red arrow pointng to me there. My older brother Ron has his back to us and is wiping the bumper off. Ron went on to be a factor in Antique and Classis boats having owned a couple of show winners and having found and rescued that famous Canadian Wooden launch MISS MUSKOKA. Dad is still living and just recently sold his restored 38 Chev coupe at 84 years old. He s an Electrical engineer and designed the radios for the famous AVRO ARROW while working for Collins Radio of Canada. He also designed the "GASCAN" radio for the Voo Doo fighter jets. Sadest day of his life seemed to be when I decided to become a mechanic even though his brother Everret was an excellant one. He relented though in 1985 when he saw one of my pay Stubs. (Don I had no idea, he said. I retract my previous statements)
I was despite my size (or length) 4 years old when this picture was taken. It was developed and dated 1954 and I was born on Indy 500 day 1950.
If you think I was big then you should see me now!
My brother Ron recently moved to Bentonville Arkansas (Lowes store)and is talking about more wooden boats again.
    Don

My dad and my uncle (up by the engine) built this to cruise the ditches. apple crate for a seat. Their father, my grandfather died when they were in grade school and they ran the farm after that with my grandmother.

The dude that's posing is a neighbor that insisted on on the picture being taken. Glad he did really as it is the only pic of it.

The coolest pic I have is of my Grandfather when he was on the Chicago Cubs back in the early 1920's. We have one picture of him in his uniform standing in the outfield.

A friend of mines 90 year old parents moved from the only house they had lived in
since they were married 60+ years ago, and found a box of slides of many family trips.
Knowing i had a scanner to do something with them, they brought them to me to make
a dvd of them. They are a family that is into cars, and included them in many shots. Here are a few of them. Lots of cool cars in backgrounds as well.
