I loose so much stuff to "pocket thieves" that I am tempted to weigh people on the way in and then on way out and charge $100.00 per lb. espcially the "Mad sh*tters", I don't mind people peeing on the weeds and trees but to dump in a vehicles interior pisses me off.

pocket theives...hummm...great term...may we use it?...best thief story to date...steering wheel (banjo) was cut out of a 35 ford....we found a cell phone in the car...took it home, dried it out and charged it...called 1st number on speed dial saying we found a phone while hiking (had pics of it in the car just in case) owner of the phone called me...he gave me his name and mailing address so i could send it to him...and...you know the rest of the story...life is hard...it's harder when your stupid...

  4. Verbiage like this one from Berts posts (#11) was the reason for my post.

"on sun past i met with some folks from this thread and let them have a look at the kingdom..."

  5. That's messed up. Hey why doesn't someone post up some pics of the yard, so those of us who can not visit, can have a virtual tour of the cars & such?

Yea I would love a to be in the next tour as well, would love to photograph these great cars maybe make a book of the cars with some stories. I just bought an old car (69 charger 500) and it sat in a old yard like this. The stories about the cars are what I like to read and hear.

to the thousands of folks who have read this thread, thanks.. it is comforting to know that there are so many junkyard lovers out there.. now for the bad news.. TONY was 90 in april and decided to call it quits after 60+ years.. his nephew was given control and the family made the decision that they had enough.. the fee's , insurance, regulations etc. just made keeping the door open on a limited basis incredibly costly.. the yard has been crushed out... 1200+ cars trucks and other neat rolling stock is gone.. the final phase of the clean up is about done... thanks to all. happy building best of luck with your current and future projects...it was a great run...again, thanks to all TONY and Co. signing off...be well!

  10. Only once did I do something like that. Not inside the car, but in the trunk of like a '63 Valiant. I picked it because it was handy, and because the thing was so rotted out what I passed went straight to the ground under the car.
