Here's some of mine. I've got more but they're kind of spread around. Some aren't that old, but if you collect signs, the prices have gone insane on a lot of them, and license plates are still pretty reasonable for the time being, so I grab whatever I can, especially in the junkyard where they're cheap.

Note that a lot of the personalized plates in the first pic belonged to our own BobK. The only guy I know who would get a plate that said "FAAT ROD". Displayed with pride.

Picked these up recently. The first two came from different sellers at the same flea market… turns out they are both from the Netherlands! The Arizona plate I picked up cheap from a junk store around the corner from a friend’s house.

I've got more but these are the ones on the wall. All the year tag are matching pairs.
The Fairfax tax tag I found at a flea market for maybe 4 bucks. I had to but it 'cause it's the year and county I was born.

I found the best way to hang/display tags is to use S hooks. Nail the top tag level and every one below it will be even and level

20230709_174047.jpg 20230709_174047.jpg I also like novelty and promo plates. I don't have many anymore but I have these 2 that I've had for over 15 years. Stuffed in a drawer. I'll hang 'em on the wall or run one on a car when the time is right. Who knows?

  13. IMG_6633.jpeg IMG_6614.jpeg IMG_6607.jpeg IMG_6566.jpeg IMG_6521.jpeg I’ve been gathering a few plates lately. Slowed down a little bit due to moving… again. Here’s the most recent acquisitions, including my first porcelain license plate.

  14. IMG_6650.jpeg Just acquired this ‘49 waffle plate from @lostmind the other day. All my plates are currently in storage due to moving. Wasn’t sure if I had an Ohio waffle plate yet, figured I would take a chance. Hell, there’s always room for one more plate.

What the hell did a "bait shrimp" plate go on? I never saw that one before.

I recently got another pile including some cool local bicycle ones, when I get a chance to lay them out (or if I get them hung up) I'll be sure to add pics here.

  19. Hey @Squablow from what I can find, the bait shrimp plate was required on any commercial fishing boat that was bringing in shrimp.

I also collect Wisconsin bike plates. Let me know if you have any extras, or want to swap some.

Interesting! I'll see what I've got and post pics. If I've got a lot of the same ones, I'd do some swapping.

  23. A license plate was included with other construction components in the Bucket of Junk contest at the Big Knob Grange Fair this past week. Here are some of the creations.

Oldest plates in my collection of about 200: 1919 Vermont, 1922 Tennessee, and 1928 Alabama.

I’d love to find a set of 1955 Texas plates that weren’t priced ridiculously.

My collection of tags. Two are from motorcycles of mine. Does anyone remember what movie The Toecutter was a bad guy in? Also, I have 2 consecutive pairs of 1926 Maryland tags, #228-534 and 228-535. Those 4 will probably go on Ebay some day. tags2.JPG tags4.JPG tags5.JPG
