  8. Fine steel wool works great on chrome. If you use adhesive remover it will speed up the process.

    Save the Helmann's for lunch.

Try WD40, Mineral Spirits, Lacquer Thinner, Acetone, etc.

I don't know where he got it, but a buddy, who owns a body shop, has this little rubber wheel for his angle grinder that takes the molding adhesive and other sticky crap off....and it doesn't burn through paint.

On old masking tape a heat gun works , takes the glue with the tape . Just warm it but not to hot.

  16. I use the stuff glass guys use for old stickers and such. Loosens glue and doesn't harm paint. Mine is called Super Seal release agent. Glasier supply stores handle it.

The eraser is an awesome tool for taking tape pinstripes, bumper stickers, or vinyl lettering off, I've used a few and with good results. Not sure how well it would work on masking tape though, I think it's designed for the vinyl. Might work.

If its on chrome, spray some water on it then scrape w/ razor blade. A sharp blade wont damage the chrome.

  23. if it dried up flaky tape then a razor blade works fine if its still gooey almost any cleaner will do it try some fingernail polish remover cheap and easy to get

  24. Yeah, go ahead----use a razor blade on it. Then the first time you see it froom a certain angle in the sunlight. I gaurantee you will shit your pants!!!! Been there, done that, on a 65 mustang about 40 years ago. Get something chemical based to soften it up, then don't scrape it with anything harder than a plastic bodyfill applicator.

    I usually use carb cleaner.

  27. Most any petroleum product will help. Goof-Off is good stuff.
Don't use steel wool or razor blades if it's nice chrome.
