Barney Navarro- a legend in his own time. http://www.hotrod.com/newsstand/hrdp_0805_hot_rod_legend_barney_navarro/index.html
How about a pic from Bonneville 1952 of Barney's T roadster? barney-narvaro by Jimmy Bs 1925 Chev, on Flickr
A picture you NEED is the little cartoon in an early Hop-up, 1952 or 3 or so, showing him crouching over a holed piston, welding it up for the next day on the salt...a classic piece of true-life hotrod folklore, and the cartoon is very recognizable.
If that picture isn't hotrodding in action, I don't know what is. Lots of people would just go sulk with a piston failure...
I just today posted some 1969 shots of him and his ill fated Indy 500 entrant. As I was the young lad to take the shots, I also "touched & and heard" same. I confess to not knowing a thing about him then...thus no other pics.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duuRhFGS38k
