"This whole thing is crap"???!!! What else can I possibly offer you than a BIG F YOU!!!!

In my post I offered help to anyone who is serious and I have helped several. I know of at least 3 that have taken the info I offered and now own a truck from Old Navy.

So, to you I say, YOU are a piece of a crap!!! Good luck being an asshole!!! I am sure you will prosper accordingly.

BTW... If you want pics of me holding a sign with your screenname on it showing how solid my truck is, please feel free to start a new thread so I can show everyone what a dumbass you are for posting on here that you call "BS" about the whole thing!!! Try stickin around here for awhile before throwin yer weight around... you just might learn something.

Ummm Nailhead? Did you even read the whole post? This was directed at the FNG"s that keep posting.

    To quote:
"Not to say that real people who will do rad things with them dont end up with them"

Thats great that you are helping and YOUR truck looks nice, but you clearly are a bit sensitive for no good reason? Which honestly just makes you look irrational. But if it makes you feel better to call me names like a child and fills that void for ya, well then I hope you feel REALLY good.

Ya know what... I will agree with you that a some of the FNG posts on this subject are pure and total BS. Point taken.

But please do not down play those of us that have tried to help others that are interested in these trucks.

That was in no way my intention and I as well as I am sure others are very thankful for the real information. I am sorry that you felt this was against you, I did not mean it to come across that way. I sent you a PM.

There have been 2 on Egay this week. One in Canadialand that is almost to $3k, the other was somewhere else that was at $2k when I left it. No motors, trans, or wiring or gas tanks, but heck, for another $500 you could have a runner and why the hell not? If there was one here, I'd call on it.

I just was given one of these Trucks and whent to pick it up last night I drove 100 miles each way and it was a waste of time this truck was really far gone.there had been tin glued to the truck with filler and the cowel was rotten and there were some other cobs done too. you can get them for free and the stores are being directed to dispose of them I believe. By the way the one I left behind was in Norwalk CT. Make sure you look closely at these trucks if yer thinkin of takin one on cause beauty is only skin deep

I just was given one of these trucks and drove a 100 miles to get it what a waste of time. this thing was shot, and cobbled together. there was tin glued to the body with filler and the cowl a cab mounts were rotten the doors barely opened the steering system had been cut and the welds in the bed looked like an Old navy saleperson had done them! so I left it behind. It's in norwalk CT. If any one is considering one of these trucks I recomend loking it over closely cause it could be a very extensive project. Requiring a lot o cash and time and of coarse talent

The fact is, a national moving company that is (already) under contract with GAP Inc., (Old Navy) was commissioned to remove most of the trucks from their retail locations. GAP didn't sell them individually, as there was too much liability involved. Hence the give-away in exchange for removing them. Good deal for both parties.

So they're hitting the market place in various forms, whether it's eBay or private- word of mouth sales, and the opinions are swirling. Everything from, "They're junk", "Bondo Filled" , "How could he ask 3K for something he got for free?" and so on... Before you leap in and interject your opinion, ask yourself this; "What would I do if some corporation handed me 10 trucks for the price of removing them?"

My point is, if the market will allow for a person or persons to sell these old trucks for (whatever) price they bring, who are you to criticize?

I've purchased one from a man in Tennessee who has over 80 of these old jalopies, and am very pleased with it. Sure it has no motor or tranny, but the body is better than a truck that's been sitting in some open field for the past 20 + years. This truck has been in a climate controlled environment for over 15 years and is ready for me to restore. I didn't pay $3K for it either...

My conclusion is, if the manner in which these individuals acquired these old trucks doesn't sit well with you, especially since they got them for FREE and you didn't... Don't fault anyone! Either buy one, or move on. They are what they are!! Nothing more or less!

Let me know if you want one of the remaining trucks- I can put you in touch with the seller in TN.

    Found on another site 3-6-08:

    "
1953 Chevrolet 3100 series pickup. There is no title as this truck was a store fixture in a national clothing store and has been inside for at least 10 years. There is no motor, transmission, wiring, gas tank, etc. This would be a great platform for a hot rod or driver or a fun project. Most of the chrome is new or reproduction. Glass is in great shape and windows work.
A bill of sale will be provided.
Price of 3000.00 or best offer.
Call 757-787-3868 ask for George or Bryan
I have Pictures. Truck is located in Virginia about an hour south of delmar"

  15. The root of all this? It appears the Old Navy stores are being rebranded as GAP stores. I just wanted some closure on this.... :D

    http://www.247wallst.com/2008/03/ubiquitous-20th.html

Old Navy is one of Gap's (NYSE: GPS) three brands and it is the one that is pulling down overall sales at the big clothing company. Old Navy has a little over one thousand outlets. Maintaining the costs of separate buying, marketing, and management costs just isn't worth it. Soon, the Old Navy stores will just be Gaps.

Went to look at one the other day from a guy who had gotten two FREE..yes FREE to haul them off. Wanted 2800 for one. The one I saw was trash, scabbed metal onto the frame, pitted interior, holes, junk bolted on...I wouldn't have paid $500 let alone nearly 3 grand.

  25. When will this post ever end? Great, now the price of any old Advance Design truck now has gone down into the dumpers. It is always about supply and demand. It looks like the market is now floaded with 1948 to 1953 Chevy half ton pickups!

I just bought two of them from Orlando and they will be shipped to me tomorrow. I paid $1300 for both of them and that is including shipping. Not a bad deal. Both in good shape. One Short Bed, One Long Bed.

The market will only be "Flooded" temporally. Remember there were only so many made and they are not making any new 1950's era trucks so buy one while you can.

These are sexy trucks.... seriously if you get the chance to buy one for even $2-3K it's still worth it.

I will be fixing up both of them and will take pictures along the way. I will be happy to keep you updated if you wish.
