Jim:The first production F.I. for Pontiac was 1957 in the Bonneville convertible only. They were kind of hand-assembled(I don't think any two were alike and Pontiac Pres. Bunkie Knudsen had one built for him with quad headlights!UGLEE!)They also had it in 1958 but it wasn't the same unit.Did quite a few modifications trying to sort out the problems and finally gave up and dropped it that year.58 wasn't a particularly good year for GM cars anyway;that was the first year they attempted air suspension! That lasted until 1960 and they even offered retrofit kits for standard springs to placate all the people who were unlucky enough to order a car so equipped. You could also get fuel injection in Canadian Pontiacs in 57, but they used the Chevy drivetrain. I don't think there were more than a handful ever made and I can only recall ever seeing one and that was only in a magazine. It was a 57 Pathfinder business coupe, rare in it's own right, with a 283 horse 283. Sort of a Black Widow's big brother.
