Seen these used as wall art in a garage where I bought a set of NOS skirts for my 37.
Notice the difference of the angle of the coolant inlet. Anyone ever seen these?

I would say it was just a specific model Offenhauser made. Dont know just my 2 cents?

Never seen a pair like that, maybe built for some sort of clearance issues but how would that angle help?

I think that is just the way Offy made the late heads early in their production. Why is a different question, though I think that setup with hoses and stats more to the top looks good, especially if considered for use on an early rod rather than a late custom.

Looks like the upper surface of the head has a different profile. More like a 'water manifold' .
Possibly it was an attempt to facilitate water flow to improve cooling. I readily admit I am speculating based on that observation. o_O

    Ray,

Nope, I'm an 8BA guy and have all the heads I need, and the more I see about the earlier flatheads, the happier I am. BTW, I have one being built right now using some of the parts I got from you. Thanks man!

I have a set on an engine in the garage just for looks. The only think I can think of it might have been done for an offset generator bracket to be used. The set I have were milled long ago and were on a drag car.
