I'd been bothered about how wet my Model A roadster was getting under the car cover in the back yard. So when a work colleague graciously offered the use of a garage to store Old Rusty over the winter, I jumped at the offer. Today I threw back the tarp, fired the old girl up and drove the 18 miles or so to put 'er away for the winter. I was amazed at how damp it gets under the tarp, check out the motor in the video. I used windows movie maker to splice 3 shorter video's together, I'm enjoying tinkering about with the little camera. Here's a link. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=whCX0LLJduU Here it is embedded: Mart.
Thanks for taking the time to put that together and post it! I enjoyed it a lot. I love to see it smoothed out and some shiny paint on her, seems too nice a rod for that flat. I'm from Miami Fla. and flat was not a finsh in the 50's and 60's on rods around Florida. I see so many now every were, that are flat paint now. I really like your rod, very cool
Great video. Super seeing the little right drive sweetheart fire up and take a drive through the country! Thanks for posting!!!
Hey Mart, did you know you have an accent? Just kidding! Old rusty looks great, I still can believe what you started with. Thanks for posting the video.
One of the first builds I came across online.Never new there was other fools out there like me willing to take on such a big project. Most wouldn`t even try to save something like this.Love seeing the build and the car. cool video.Thanks.
eeek your on the wrong side of the road I will have to save THIS FLIP THE VIEW SO I CAN WATCH IT WITH MY EYES OPEN LOOKS LIKE FUN AND THANKS FOR THE RIDE
That was a nice play by play, somehow I would think it would have been quite boring if you spoke with an American accent, but not in this case. Thanks for posting that.
Me? An accent? no.. I've heard lots of other people with accents though.. That, gentlemen is a genuine Birmingham accent - not to be confused with the broader Black Country accent. Imagine Ozzie Osbourne without the slurring. That's a brummie (Birmingham) accent.
Can you sing Iron Man or Paranoid for us on a future vid? Besides, when Brits sing, they don't have accents - they sound American!!
Hey QQ I captured Mart in the Vid so we can see his face also ( hope this works) Just messing around here on a crappy NY day. Yes I should be working Very nice video marty. Thank you for sharing.
Me too, Mart's site was an inspiration to me, and it's good to see Rusty on the road! For sure you need to find a better way to store that, it looks like moisture is coming up from the ground, under the tarp, and condensing. Try laying plastic on the ground first. Thanks again for the "road trip"!
That doesn't look anything like Mart. Mart's a tall, good looking fellow with a silly accent and a fondness for odd hats.
nice video Mart and old rusty has always been inspirational. your drive in the country makes me think of Billy Bragg's " a13 trunk road to the sea"
I enjoyed that......I think I might take my A out for a ride today 30 degrees out with light snow in Detroit.
That's a nice ride there with ya Mart. I could just about smell the little bits of oil and petrol at the start up. Gave me a Sunday morning smile with my coffee. Charlie
Hey Mart nice to hear your voice and that Limey accent hey Guv, what !! Always loved that old Rusty ride pof yours, nice to see she's still drivin and no doubt shell love being stashed away in a DRY shed for the Winter.... Rat
NEVER store a car outside under a tarp. The moisture comes up from the ground and keeps it constantly wet. There's an old used car dealer near me who closed in the early 70's and just threw plastic and tarps over all the cars. He refuses to sell anything (he's a VERY strange dude). Sometimes the tarps blow off and you see the cars, or whats left of them. They're all top choice cars like first generation T birds, and 50's Cadillac convertibles etc, turning to oxide dust. Sad
