I am going to build and old school SBC and would like to know what neat SBC intakes there are or were that would fit the build. I really like the old winters dual 4bbl intake used on the 283, but would rather use 1 4bbl. I want the looks. will cheat a little bit and use a 350 4 bolt main for the strength and reliability, but equipping it with double hump heads. It has to run ok, but don't want a new style intake, thanks

    Creitz made some cool ones!

  5. First off, what era are you talking about?

If you're going late enough, the Victor Jr. was top of the heap for its day and still is.

If you want the early look and it's a mild engine, I would go with a dual plane intake. The (already mentioned) Edelbrock C4b, C3B, C3BX, are good choices. I would stay away from open plane intakes.

yes it would need to be dual plane. I am not sure of the era. On a 60's era intake were most of the factory manifolds for a single 4, cast iron?

  9. I think whats cool is to take an aluminum streetmaster (or simular) and grind off the lettering, paint it chevy orange and have the cast iron look .... gotta have a filler tube though

A 283 or 327 is just as strong and reliable as a 350, they are practically the same motor

As for factory stuff, almost all the hipo 1x4 intakes are alum
