Great signs OL 55.The Sky Vu one is awesome...If I owned this it would definantly go somewhere in my house
The New Mexico Route 66 Assn. came up with a program with grant money to encourage buisnesses to restore their old neon signs. If it qualifies they pay for half the restoration cost, Grant's Cafe was one of them. They been doing I think 6 to 10 a year for the last several years, it's been great! Much better then a lot of places where they want the old signs removed. We take our Route 66 history seriously!
Driven by this one many times, and stopped in a few times to eat as well: the famous Hilltop Steak House on old Route 1 in Saugus, MA:
They've done some amazing restorations in New Mexico. We wrote a blog article about some of the work they've done last Fall when we drove out to Tulsa for a preservation conference. Hope they keep up the important work! Jeff
Wow! I've been collecting old Motel signs here lately and my daughters would freak over that pink motel sign with the fairy on it! Where is that?
Good one Dog. Its located in Cherokee,North Carolina...I've been taking pictures of that sign for over 20yrs,every time I see it,I think its probably going to be the last time I see it...but its still there!
Unfortunatlly the NM RT 66 Assn. had some serious managment issues last year and dropped the ball on grant money, lost a lot of support. I hear they got a new president who's trying to put it back together but it won't be easy, I'm hoping they can do it
