I used to rent a garage around the corner from this sign. i sigh every time i pass it...then i conspire how to swipe it and reassemble in my garage at home...hehe hmmm.
I dig this thread. Some day in the summer I should go around and take photos of whats left standing here in town.
Just got thru crating 250 neon signs that we are taking to Kissimmee Fl. to sell on 1-31-10 They are awsome.
LOL! By all means. Consider this to be your sacred mission for this summer. There's a lot of "sign junkies" around here and we're always needin' a fix!
These are mine. The olds sign was found by my brother half buried and folded in half in the old city dump.
My buddy's dad has that Olds sign hanging on his garage wall- MINT. His grandfather was a Buick/ Olds dealer up in Superior, WI. That's gotta be worth a pretty penny!
Do I win for the largest car related sign??? This pic was taken from Google Earth "Established by the Studebaker Corporation, formerly of nearby South Bend, Indiana as the first model test facility for an American automobile company. Studebaker developed the 840 acres (3.4 km²) of land in 1926 as the first ever controlled automotive testing grounds for their product lines, beating Packard, Studebaker's future business partner, by one year. Studebaker heavily promoted the grounds as a "Million Dollar Outdoor Testing Laboratory" in advertisements. The test track that ran through the grounds simulated a variety of terrains and road conditions. Studebaker landscaped the park by keeping natural features; in 1937 the company planted more than 5,000 pine trees in a pattern that when viewed from a plane spelled STUDEBAKER."
You to huh? Haha, i always wondered, what would they do if someone just fixed it up, on their own time, just to see it nice again? Just a thought.
