Let's just say old Alan wasn't really honest about the condition of the car...

Get outa Dodge! :( All kidding aside, I've never had an honest description given to me when buying a car. Good luck man.

that's not the news, I was expecting to hear. After Joe Roth got rid of the 59, I lost track of it. After that, I saw the 59 once, about 2 years ago, in a small storage garage that Alan had the 59 stored in. I was surprised that someone had kept it around. Never did see it being driven or at any local car events. I hope things get better.

Yeah I wouldnt drive it either..Its going to get the frame checked this next week to see if its bent. All but one wheel cylinder was frozen, broken yoke, u joints were shot, carb was wasted, leaking freeze plugs, shifter linkage was all screwed up, cross member is smashed up real bad, Im guessing it was never repaired when it was involved in a front end collision, rust in the inner rockers, etc etc etc.. not what he described when I asked him about the car.

damn, things didn't get better. I had heard that the 59 was in rough shape when Alan and his uncle started working on the car. I don't know if the undercarriage damage was before or during Alan's ownership. Regardless, they knew it was there and didn't tell you. Your comment "Alan wasn't really honest about the condition" is a really nice way of saying something that could have more swear words. Knowing that it's not the 59's fault, I hope you stay with your plans for the car.

what happened to the rear pan?
As I recall, Cudahy Auto Body used lead during the custom work. Synthetic body filler would have been used when, Al and whoever did what ever they did.
Good to see progress. Thank you for the update.

There was a ton of lead in it. Alan or whoever, did some sketchy repair work with sheet metal and pop rivets. The pan was damaged by Hagerty insurance's recommended tow truck company. It was kind of a blessing..

Well the lead was probably from 1961/62 when it was first done, the rest of the mess over the top of it well...

Hey Mark! long time no hear! I miss you on Facebook. Jeff Spence didnt spray the hood, doors, roof and deck lid. He seemed to think it was all going to blend ok so he left it alone.

great stuff, awesome paint, wheels, tires and the stupid spotlights are gone (I hope), they never were on the car when Joe had it.
A huge thank you and much appreciation to you for your efforts and doing the car right.

Really didnt try to over restore it. Just freshened it up and make it a safe, running and driving car once again. Bring it back to its 1962 appearance.
