    Hello all.

A friend of mine bought a ratty half finished 62 to 64 Chevy II gasser that had this axle in it. It is bent back (or forward?) in the middle, presumably for oil pan clearance? I assume the bend is factory, from the original vehicle that it was in. It also appears to have had multi lug (more than 5) wheels originally and has been poorly modified to 5 on 4.75.

We are thinking of using this in a future build but would like to add a disc brake kit.

Does anyone have any idea as to what the original application of this axle might have been?

    Thanks!

Ya, that first pic would make a hell of a puzzle.

I’m just wondering why I didn’t spot the op wandering around my place taking random pics…

More pictures of brakes and hubs would probably help.

1948-53 Dodge pilothouse pickup front axle, and yes, the bend is to make room for the oil pan.

  7. Mid-fifties Fargo(Dodge) pickup front axle is similar, or same.

That probably doesn't weigh any less than the bits it's replacing.
