    2R Series (1949-1953)
The 2R Series was the most produced Studebaker truck. This all new post-war design was created by Robert Bourke, Raymond Loewy's styling chief. During it's four year run, the 2R styling stayed basically the same with few minor changes. The hood ornament came from the Studebaker Champion car. This cab style is known as the C cab and was manufactured until 1964 for the heavy duty trucks and until 1959 for the light duty trucks. Many of these trucks have survived through the years and are commonly seen at Studebaker shows.

Jonnie is absolutely correct. It is hard to tell from the angle of the shot of the engine which engine is in the truck. From 49-53 the truck could have either the Champion 6 (170 cu.in.) or a Commander 6 (225/245 cu. in). The smaller engine would make the truck a 2R5 while the bigger engine would make it a 2R6. The smaller engine is much easier to find. The 2R trucks are half ton models. You might want to try the Studebaker Drivers Club Forum. Folks there are often looking for parts or entire trucks. They also are a source for much information. There is also a Studebaker Truck Forum that might be of some help. if you were closer I might have been interested, there is a good market for C-cab trucks. As far as what you should do with it is concerned, it depends on how solid the truck is. How much rust and where? Also is it an overdrive truck? Overdrive on these trucks is very desirable. From the looks of the engine I would say it does not run or even turn free.
