I have a spare hood for my 39 deluxe and want to punch louvers (and also for future projects) I’m gonna build a die to punch louvers , i like the old style round top louvers. I searched the hamb but i only found that most are 3 inch wide , I can’t seem to find height, depth and spacing Can somebody help me with this dimensions ( also the dimensions of the square top louvers)
Spacing is going to be what the die allows. I have these photos of mine that were done in the 80's by a guy in Bremerton Wa with an old air opperated press. His die had a flaw in it that left it's mark on each louver that a few guys spotted and knew who had done the hood. I think it was done in 1980/81. as I drove it to Texas in 81 and the hood was louvered then.
The Mittler Bros website has the dimensions of all the dies they sell. https://www.mittlerbros.com/media/pdffile/Louver-Punch-Out-Dimensions.pdf
There’s some video online using a bead roller. The Eastwood dies look odd and seem to roll a shallow bead. Seems like they will cut and roll an ugly louvre. Wondering if anyone has made decent looking louvers with a bead roller.
