History Old Time Soldering Question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JohnnyFast, Aug 17, 2008.

  1. Back in Jr. High (mid-50's), in metals class, we had a block of a white substance that you rubbed the heated soldering iron on to prepare it. I remember lots of smoke. What was that stuff ?

    TIA.... :)
