History old Tri-Y headers... Hedman or Doug Thorley?

On the upper part, they look just like the old Hedman Tri y headers... But all the Hedman ones I've seen were shorter like "blockhuggers" and not full length like these...

I tried them on my 32 and they won't clear the wishbone... I was thinking I'd make them work, but it may be better to try to find some of the other ones rather than cut these up... I've never seen any like these. Anyone know anything about them?

The guy I got them from said they were made by Doug Thorley and he took them off an old hot rod 32 roadster.

I cannot add anything other then what you've stated. The top looks like the Hedman Tri Y's but it looks like you can definitely see where a new collector was welded on to change them up a bit.

I'd cut 'em up and make them work. You'll at least get the look of the Tri Y at the top which screams hot rod!!!

I don't think Doug made those. Between the square flange and look of the welds, I would bet that Doug had nothing to do with them.
I also think they have been modified at some time - the bend in the lower tube on each is a muffler shop crush bend, and no header manufacturer I know of ever did that.
Based on what I can see, I would bet either early Hedman's or even Appliance's that have been modified. Hard to say for sure though since they are modified.

Those have been modified since they left the factory. Hedman's never had the modern 3 bolt collector flanges. Headers of this era had different style flanges.

    They made two different styles.

This was the more common (to me anyway) 2 piece Hedman headers of the time, I don't believe that they were designed for hot rods but they fit so they were very popular.

yeh, I need to look at them closer...

It does look like the lower parts were more crudely done. so, like ya'll said, they likely started out as just like all the other Hedmans I've seen...and were modified by someone later.

Are these possibly from a D.I.Y. "header kit" ? There used to be some of those out there.

I still run Hedmans on my 72 F100,...and they came with the now common 3 bolt collector flanges.

Tommy, thanks for posting that... That's the style flange I've always seen... seemed odd that these were like that...

Also... there's a good deal on some headers that have been for sale for a while that I think are the part number "H-FO2" shown in that ad... if someone is looking for some, PM me and I'll send you the link...

I made these to resemble the early headers.

No, the guy doesn't have all four pieces... they are a little rough, but seemed like a good deal to me... I'll pm you the link in a minute.

The guy didnt lie to you, they were on his deuce roadster and they are not hedmans but I am not sure what they are. I was dealing with him at the roundup but I bought a pair of old Mr. Gaskets that look like them but has a three bolt triangle flange at the spot where the two tubes come together. If you think you might like mine I will send you pictures and trade
