My '41 now that it's finally back on the road. Stayed with the original paint for now and just hopped up the motor, stuck a T5 in it and a 12 bolt rear. I'm happy. Mark.
Here's mine, it just slides in under the '64 cutoff... You'll have to trust that there's weathered paint under there... 'cause this is how it gets there...
i DISCARD most any photos that show how faded and weathered it really looks!! ''painted in the mid 60s.'' i like the pictures that make it look shiny and nice like this one. -- 1000 miles on a month, 7 days a week i drive it and mother nature usually washes her for me.
Larry This is an old thread so I don't doubt that i have posted on it already and no doubt if I pposted a pic of something that i own and drive I am sorry for screwing the thread up. Just incase I haven't posted I just wanted to say that it is a pretty slick thread. I haven't looked at every picture of course or I would know if I already posted but i do enjoy old paint. There is just something about a paint job that doesn't look likie it just rolled out of the detail shop doors. It has character, every little crazed spot, chip and tiney scratch is a little bit of history.
Hey farmergal, no disrespect intended, i think this thread would be better served if you deleted your post above. This thread is plain and simple, about weathered paint and pics showing them. Discussing trends and or BS related ruins it. There have been several threads like that and we all know how they end. As Larry stated in his first post in 07 no drama.

Hey farmergal, I think in all your youth(23) you may be missing the point.. The fact that these cars have survived all these years, some even with their original paint or no paint at all is what we're saluting.. Just surviving the test of time......
heres my 45 GMC, a guy hit me an torn the drivers rear fender off and took the Diff out from under it, been sitting for a couple of years and i just pulled it out last week to put it back on the road, i plan on washing it.
I just can't afford the 10 grand it would take to paint this sucker!It took more than I've got just to get it this far....R~R
This is my '40. I think it's had the driver-side front fender replaced many years ago. Been driven through barbed wire or something similar. Been smacked pretty good on the passenger-side rear quarter. Rode hard and put away wet many a time. Who knows what all it has been through. Whatever, it's 71 years old and still in one piece. I hope I will be, too, when I'm 71. For the time being, at least, I don't want to erase all that history. It's all about the artifact factor.
The original graphics on my model a My '40 Chevy in original paint. Interior is original with the headliner and carpet replaced.. My father-in-laws '32 coupe. Body is original paint.... Once the cars are stripped you can never get it back. I like the original paint no matter what shape it's in. As long as there's more paint then rust, and the body is straight.
That car is so killer! My 56 and my 38 both have both been shaped by time and nature. The 38 has fared a bit better then the old pickup.
here is one more I uploaded. It's the only picture I have on my computer of the car. It's a scanned copy of a poor picture and you have to excuse me and my wife getting in the way. I built it for a good freind of mine a few years back. I drove it a while to work the bugs out, and it was hard handing the car over....
