This is my wrecker. A 57 F-350 with a Holmes 300 boom. 292 with a Granny low 4 speed. Duane in Tennessee
Fantastic topic guys, great pics, love old wreckers/tow trucks. Back in my young days i hand cranked a weaver auto crane, towing is pretty simple these days! Lol
I had a '48 F6, from Moomjean's of Merced. Had a 1950 Holmes crane for it...sold it, for the '50 F-1 I got instead. This was before I built my shop...Love these old tow trucks/'wreckers'!
Here's me 55 Chevy wrecker the day it arrived. And where I'm at today with it, fresh motor, clutch , working brakes and took the doors off today so I can do the hinge pins.
Here's one that you don't see everyday. A 1924 Lincoln 4dr car converted into a wrecker. Probably right around WW2.
This is my 1940 Studebaker K10 Fast Transport Wrecker with a Weaver 2 ton Auto Crane. It slept in a barn for over 30 years before I rescued it. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
For many years I used a 64 chevy 3/4 ton. I built it myself out of what I had in the hoard. It had a 250 six and 456 gears. I moved some really big loads with it. That bus was heavy it was loaded with stuff and still had the 292 engine and drivetrain. I moved it from our other place about 3 miles away. I had to set the front tires on a home built dolley because it was too heavy to lift. The old 48 pilot house had the drivetrain also but wasn't too heavy for the tow sling.
Great Job Mark! I built an {easy peasy boom} for one of my grandson's pedal cars. Also here's a photo I took of a cool old Chevrolet, that I spotted along the roadside. The wife said it had better not follow us home. lol Ron... .
One I had a few years back 46 Chev . One that got away , regret now. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
