I LOVE music, but sometimes have a hard time remembering who sings what etc.. So when this music post came up, i saved it because there was sooooo much great stuff in it.. 6 pages worth of info.. I'm sure you can get something from this... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/favlinker.php?Cat=&Entry=2373&F_Board=UBB1&Thread=65584&partnumber=&postmarker= Do i qualify for a free cd??? Rat.....
i like jack knife and the sharps' "hot rod man"....i'm sure it's a remake of an oldie, but i don't know the original artist
My suggestions... If you like DooWop, get the Rhino sets. Three sets = 303 songs...you gotcher standards, and about 250 you've probably never heard. If you like fast '50s, get the Rhino "Loud, Fast, and Out of Control" set...very cool, also a lot of rarely (if ever) heard ones. If you like surf instrumentals, I'm partial to The Ventures, and 32Limey sent me a VERY cool CD of surf instros. Not necessarily for cruising, but, as far as open-minded, I also like Depeche Mode, ZZ Top, Pachalbel's Canon in D, Ennio Marcone's themes to spaghetti westerns, Audioslave, Johnny Horton, and Marty Robbin's ballads. I'll toss a couple of things in here... First off, "Hey Good Lookin'" by Hank Williams. I've often wondered if this is one of the earliest references to hot rods in music: "I got a hot rod Ford and a two dollar bill/I know a spot right over the hill/There's soda pop and the dancin's free/So won't ya come along and have fun with me?" In a more modern vein, just about anything by The Paladins would be good!
