Olds 231 ?

    I was offered a 231 olds v6 and trans (early 80s) dirt cheep and it runs good. I was thinking of maybe putting in in a little roadster or something. What Id like to know is are they the same as the 231 buick or not. Thanks for any info

    YES.
    The Buick 231 is what was in the Olds your looking at.
    Olds did not have a seperate engine family.

    Be sure and get the VIN # off the car that the engine is coming out of to make tracking parts much easier.

    Yep, used across the board in many GM cars.

    Distributor in front, at an angle, external oil pump, just some quick visual cues to be sure it's not one of the Chevy V6 engines of the era!

    Decent aftermarket support, can make cool hot rod engines.
