I have a 66 f-85 with a 2 barrel 330 in it. A couple of days ago I got the chance to strip a 65 Delta 88's engine compartment. One of the tings that I took was the intake off of it. My intention was to strip the intake and have it redone to put on my all original 330 as I am trying to keep the motor basically stock, wanting to run the factory 2 barrel.

Ok so the guy that had the Delta 88 wasnt positive what motor was in the car, he was told it was a 425 but wasnt positive. I havent taken the intake off of my 330 yet and am not going to till I am positive it will work, I have already stripped the Deltas intake and am about ready to start painting it.

So what I am wondering is, is this going to work? The 425's if I am correct have a taller deck than the 330's, is there anything I can look for to compare the 2 intakes to see if there is a difference? I mean the Delta could have had a 330 in it, they looked the same to me but I am unsure.

I know it would seem logical to hold them side by side, but they just look the same, and I am not unbolting the one off of my 330 unless I know its going to work.

I could use some help on this one....anybody?

As I recall there is about a 2" difference in intake width between a SBO and BBO. Anyways, it's obvious.

You've got a ruler, right? Measure the width of both intakes. A 425 intake will definitely not work on a 330.

Wow, I never had these 2 intakes side by side, what a obvious difference there is between the 2.

    Well.......

I have a factory steel 2 barrel intake off of a 65 Delta 88 with a 425, anybody that wants it? I will not ship it but if somebody wants to get at me and come pick it up they can have it. just throwing the offer out there as otherwise it will just be another thing hanging on the garage wall that I wont need.

I'm in Clinton, Iowa 52732..... If anybody is interested just let me know.

Do you access to the entire car (the 65 Delta)?

The dash is a great piece for customs.

If the engine is a 425 check to see if the trans is a switch pitch 400. A switch pitch 400 has 2 wires in the kickdown plug.

    Talk to you later.

Sorry I dont have access to the car. A friend of mine had the car and before he got the car it was stripped. It was an all original 4 door with around 90,000 miles on it that somebody got there hands on to demo, by the time my buddy got it, it had already been stripped of about every useable part, all the parts I was told were stripped and takin to a junk yard a couple years back.

I dont have access to it anymore, after it was demo'd I had a couple hours and tried to strip what was left which wasnt much. The guy kept the carb, I got the brackets and intake and starter.
