    Will a 1955 371 intake fit on a 1962 394? I've searched, but get conflicting info.

If not, what 2x4 or 3x2 intake will fit?

    Thanks in advance.

I think not. I don't even think it will fit a later 371 the angle of the head was changed I do belive there were adaptors (like a wedge) for early intakes to later engines but don't know if they fitted the 394

  3. I'm not a rocket expert but my udderstanding is that a 394 intake fits a 394. That's about it.

Maybe Paul will chime in. He's pretty sharp on the Olds mills.

A 324 was all you could get in 1955. 371 came out in 1957. So what do you have a 324? or a 371?

I have a 394. The dude selling the intake says 1955 371. He must be wrong. It doesn't help that I know nothing about Olds engines!

You can put a 57/58 J2 intake on a 59 and up motor but you have to make 1/2 spacers, make the spacers to the same size of the 59 and up gaskets and mill the ports to the 57 gasket size. You will need both sets of gaskets and a friend had done it to a couple of his 57 Olds running 394s.

Olds engines have three different deck heights: '49-'56, '57-'58, and '59-'64.

As has been said the 394 block is taller so the heads are further apart, also the ports are much bigger on a 394.
