Alot of work. I have a 56 Olds 98 convert project waiting for time & money that is in worse condition than your 55. Good Luck.
Welcome, Merlin, nice to see you saving one of the best cars ever built. Lots of old timers here with some pretty good '55 Olds stories ...
Glad to see you think that much of the 4 door 55 Olds too! I'm ashamed now to admit I parted one out in about the same condition you started out with, but it supplied a wealth of extra parts for 5 others a friend of mine and I have in the stables. I've only got 2 of them, but found them well worth the effort. My Holiday is still at 97k original miles and stock except for a few custom touches. As others can see in the attached pic, it does have a look of a mild chop. My other is a sedan and had 34,424 original miles when I got it for $1,250 delivered to the door 10 years ago. Total rust put together could have been covered with a cereal bowl. Perfect original rockers, doors, trunk, hood and floors. Just very minor in the front fender dog legs and one headlight cap. Will be looking forward to your progress! Please keep us up to date.
Nice Craftsmanship, thanks for sharing. I imagine ANY 55 Olds is a rarity in France and worth saving. Hardtops are always cool. All this heavy rust repair, is constant reminder what can be done if you put your mind to something. JT
Elegant Olds man, I love the 55's coolest side trim, great headlights, just a way neat car. My Dad had a 55 4-dr, tutone blue, skirts, 2" blocks in rear ,duals smittys w/chrome pencil tips, Olds flipper caps and 8 trophys in his stock cl*** at the local drag strip. Loved that car as you will love your little orphan. Best of luck. ~sololobo~
