Does anyone know if there is a reference out there that can tell when a certian part number for an Olds and a certian part number for Chevy belong to the same part since they are both GM? Is there such a reference out there and if so where I can get a copy? Specifically looking for one regarding a 1956 Olds.

i have factory parts manuals (they go back to '37 for some parts) for '58 Oldsmobile,if you need me to look something up for you.
there isn't a whole hell of a lot of parts that cross over.
i cut up 2 '56 Olds last year if you need some small parts (or a couple of quarter panels,or a radiator ) or something...;)

Maybe a Hollander's manual? They are a parts interchange manual, but I am unsure how far back they go. Most junkyards have them.

yorgatron is correct when saying that not many parts cross over. That is certainly true with my 57 Olds. There are some Chevy parts that will work, but they were not designed with Olds in mind. Most parts that crossover, are usually discovered by trial and error.

I have several shop manuals for my Olds, but little to nothing an alternative parts. Would love to know if something was available.
