Does anyone know which Olds Hydramatic would bolt to my '57 Caddy engine? The engine is in a little roadster that was built in the mid 50's. I'm not sure if there is a year span that would be a a straight bolt-on for the Caddy 365-incher, or even how many types of hydros would work.

Also, does anybody out there have any transmission parts sources for 50's Olds trannies? I found an old B&M hydro ...but there's no valve body. Bummer.

Lastly, I am looking for a floor shifter for a '55 Olds hydro I already have on the back of a 324. I want to put it in a '40 pickup but don't have a shifter. What works??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You want a 56-62 Cadillac Jetaway trans for your 365. They will bolt right up with no modifications. 1955 might also work, not sure. To put an early hydro behind it you will need a adapter that simulates the rear "shelf" found on the early cad/olds/hemi blocks, and they can be very difficult to find(hens teeth).
I have a working Jetaway trans for sale that will bolt up to your 365, PM me for more info.

Yep, last of the 4 speed dual range air cooled hydros came off the line in early 56. I've used the slim jims and got away with it for cruising. Just not as tough and beefy if you enjoy ripping it now and then.
