Olds Rocket help

    Hey, one of the 303 engines I have here has an early Hydro on it the engines are a 48 and a 50, are the early Hydro's dual range ? ie 4 speed or something different ?

    49 and above are all 4 speeds. I think '48 came either 6 or straight 8, not v8.

    actually,they are all 4 speeds '40 on up.dual-range is the better one for hot-rodding because it has the in between gear for romping around town.they 1st came in '52 i believe check out www.rodnkustom.com/rocketeers we will be adding new stuff soon i hope-george
     
  4. Yup, gotta go with yorgi on this one.

    I got a bitchen hydramatic assy. manual from 1946 from my grandpa. He took a junior college class on the GI bill in auto tranny rebuilding, and it was his text book. I even got his assignments and stuff.

    Dual-ranges were '52-up.
