I have seen a few different mounts for the Olds Rocket engine into an A frame, but I was hoping to see some other ideas.

I have seen fancy mounts to the side, I believe the Hurst style it is called, and also a very simple (yet maybe the most effective) front mount style that just goes right across the frames... as shown in the picture.

Anyone with any photos of their setup?

I have a 54 324 in the 29 survivor 50's car. I will get tout there and take afew pics soon and post them.
Dad made a mount for each side , and boxed them in the frame. Motor sits low, and exhaust is run out through flipped exhaust manifolds.

  4. try ebay. i always see olds rocket motor mounts on there made by who knows. all you have to do is tap the front of the block on either side and the other 2 bolt holes are there. they would be really simple to fab up as well. also, when i looked at my engine when i first got it i said to myself "well i coulllld mount it on the front like that. but im not CRAZY!!! i started working on mine last sunday, i'll get some pics up when i finish the welding

I'd like to see some ideas on this subject as well. The straight across right in front style looks like laziness he's just using the factory mount and I really dont think thats gonna give enough stability under torque. I suppose it would depend on what kind of trans mount you use but I think I would go with the aftermarket side mounts. Anyone have their own side mounts they've made they would like to post?

Hard to see in these pics, but mine had 2 simple brackets to adapt the olds to fit flathead engine mounts, similar to the ones sold on ebay all the time....

The '50 303 I picked out of a junkpile had two homemade mounts that just used the large bolthole on the side of the block. The mounts you've seen on Ebay that were recently fabed up are replicas of mounts marketed by C-T in the '50s. Like Hurst, C-T made conversion mounts for all the popular OHV engines.

Yeah, a better close up would be great to see if you have one.

Also, anyone know where those brackets that adapt to flathead moutns can be had - besides waiting till one pops up on Ebay?

    sorry....

sold the car. no close ups of the engine mounts.
The engine was in an f-1 when I bought it, so the mounts came with it...
I kind of took them for granted.
