This is a very rare McBar Machine Co. adapter bellhousing for Olds Rocket. Listed in an '50s speed shop catalog, this is Model CF-52: '49-'54 Cad, '49-'58 Olds to Ford trans, and will work with all Olds Rocket engines up through the 1964 394. McBar is one of the pioneers of adapter bellhousings. Fits 303, 324, 371 and 394 Olds Rockets, 1949-1954 Cadillac, though the Olds doesn't have the second mounting ear the Caddy engines have. For an additional fee, I can add that second ear and it will be an undetectable modification when I'm through with it. (we TIG weld a new ear on, grind the weld perfectly flush, bead blast the entire area to give it the correct cast texture, then run it through the finishing process). The bellhousing has been gl*** beaded and then finished with Lamar Walden Automotive's concours-quality "reskinning" process to close the pores of the surface and make it look like cast aluminum, not that white, unnatural luster bead-blasted aluminum always has. It was then put on Walden's CNC mill and the mounting surfaces true'd. The block side was true, the face was out of true .002-.005, and was given a .005 skim cut to make everything square and true. Bolt holes were re-spot faced, threads were chased; all are good--no helicoils installed, or even needed. While not truly NOS, this is as close to NOS as you'll find: The only thing missing is the box. The dark spots shown on the freshly-machined face are very small voids, typical of '50s casting standards. Dark spot on upper right bolt hole is a drop of oil I missed. Perfect condition, true and square, needs nothing but to be bolted to your engine. I also have a Ford 3spd OD trans that needs to be rebuilt, for $150. Next up is a set of Olds Rocket 394 heads for '59 and '60 Oldsmobiles. Will also fit 371. Casting Number 573305 on both heads. Pick up in Georgia is fine too, and I am traveling up I-75 from Atlanta to Michigan, and over to Chicago in the next month and can haul them anywhere along the way. If you decide to have them shipped, the heads will ship in two separate boxes. They're heavy. Shipping will be actual shipping charges to your zip code.
