I have to agree with psychodaemon. The 303 I bought last month was totally complete minus the valve covers. Had to buy a set on eBay. Makes it hard for Olds guys.

Just a point that might be different. What about NASCAR, all the Olds,Buick, and Pontiac, were running chev engs. same goes for NHRA, in pro stock, and funny car. they all run the same eng but call it ford or pontiac, dodge. In my rpu I have a hi po 289 that has a set of Gennie shifter double overhead cam v/c .I think its great at the cruise ins where everyone is wondering, and asking questions. In my shop I have had some big disputes over the covers. I:cool: t takes all kinds to make up this world. Big word is different.Dosen't make me gay.

A while back, there was a super cheesy T Bucket here in Phoenix that had an SBC with valve covers made to look like flathead heads. They were hideous. They looked a bit like the valve covers on that "der Zietgiest" monstrousity.

  4. If you run a Cad air cleaner clearly labled as a "Cadillac", and offer it up as a Cadillac engine, that's a fake. If you run the Cad aircleaner for it's style, and not try and pass the engine off as a Cadillac, that's customizing. I've never seen a Cadillac aircleaner fitted to rod with any intention of passing off the engine as a Cadillac.

Run the Old's covers if you like, but take the 'Oldsmobile' logo off. That would be Hot Rodding / customizing.

So is it gay to put a '29 body on a '32 frame? Hell, if you want a '32 frame, build a '32, right? Same thing goes for the grille shells.

If you want to run '50 Poncho tail lights, build a '50 Pontiac- don't stick them on your roadster. Same thing goes for '40 Ford tail lights, man- build a '40 Ford.

Hot rodding is all about making the car different. What difference does putting a set of Olds covers on a SBC make? All you're doing is dressing up the engine w/ a part that looks appealing. You guys need to realize that hot rodding is about modifying stuff to look & perform better.

Those valve covers look good, man. Run the shit outta 'em.

And I still can't believe so much bandwidth was wasted for a bitch-fest.

Caddy air cleaners are also the same Olds air cleaners and Packard air cleaners. I dont think my olds was trying to be a caddy.

The only thing I find sad is that they didnt repop those valve covers for the car they belong on. Yet I can get some for a sbc. Sad day indeed.

  10. Half the custom cars ever built were not for the sake of style, but to make a car look like a more expensive or newer car...

Caddy's are also easier to put in most cars, unlike the Olds motors.

I added swap meet Oldsmobile body script to M/T ones with a few holes, push nuts and some epoxy.

I'm gonna put Olds valve covers on my small block. Not because I want to fool anybody or because I like 'em. Just to REALLY piss off the purests.
