    Hey all,
I know that '56 Olds tail lights lenses fit on my '53 Ford, but does anybody know if the '55 Olds tail light housing would swap right in as well. '55 Olds tail lights seem way easier to come by and less expensive too. They look spot on...

Oh yeah, these aren't mine-they're on ebay. Just so you don't think I was too lazy to try to put them on :D.

Hey, Scott! I think the '55 lenses pretty much just screw on. They look great, too. I've got '54 88 lenses ready to go into my Vicky. I plan to weld the housings to the body and mount the ***embly that holds the bulb from the backside. The '54 lenses are a bit tricky to mount as the screw holes are at an angle, so they'll need to be mounted to the backing plate ***embly before the ***embly is mounted from the rear. Otherwise you can't get at the screws. I'll also need to make and mount a couple of angled tabs for the mounting screws to go into. I think the '54 units look better than the '55, more spaceship-like, especially when they're sunk deep into the fenders. Good luck with yours! Eric

Thanks to both of you gentlemen. Eric, I think the problem with the '55 lights in the Ford housing, as opposed to the '56 lights, is that the '55's don't fill the base of the housing like the '56's do. I'll have to take one of my tail lights apart tomorrow- I can't remember what the undersides look like.

I dont think those housings will fit. They are two different sizes I think.

If they are still on ebay send a message to the seller asking for the diameter of the housing and compare.

I have a real nice pair of Dodge chrome tail light housing with a somewhat flat lenses . I think they are 1960 give or take a year . If you remove the 55 housing these will replace them just right . The Dodge housings stick out from the body about 4"-6" . Got them from a fellow HAMBer and really like them because they are different and I might see if the 55 Olds lenses will fit inside the big chrome housing from the Dodge tail lights . These are the things that make your Ford different from the rest !

Jim, do you know if those fit the '53? I googled some images of '60 Dodges and I dig the taillight housings on most of them. Did you put them on your ride, and if so can you post pics?

    Thanks
