Too cool, what's the story behind this?

All I know is that it was a picture taken by Time Life Magazine at a NHRA meet in Santa Clara, Ca.

 

From what I remember, when I found that years ago, it was a photo of all the members of a car club all with Oldsmobiles. Sorry I can't remember the name of the club.

 

There are some great looking cars here

 

Nice flames! I'm not sure they should be on this car, but the layout and coloring is great.

 

Alright Grumpy, you've convinced me I need an Oldsmobile.

 

Not much of a Kustom, really, but I remember it fondly. I'm surprised at the number of '57s in this thread, even though they're outside the scope of the OP's original thread!

In the same vein, I'm surprised at the relative scarcity of '54 Olds customs. I always thought that they were good-looking cars, but for some reason they've never been as popular as '49-'50 and '56-'57.

 

These Oldsmobile's are nice, my favorite is the 61 Olds Super 88 2 door bubble top, Wow what a body style..
