I just ran across this thread this morning, not much activity on it in the past few years so maybe we can revive it! I certainly hope so cause I love the old Rocket 88's...
Here is my '51 88A that I picked up last September, it's pretty much stock right now. I don't know a lot of it's history other than it came from eastern Kentucky. The guy that I got it from had it about a year and in that time all he had done to it was cut 1-1/2 coils out of the front springs and he took care of some maintenance item's. I'm not sure if he added the '56 Olds wheel covers or if a previous owner did. Since I have owned it I have had the carb professionally reconditioned, dealt with a starting issue nightmare and rewired it! My plans are to get the ass end down, install a set of Jeffrey Allen headlight visors and clean it up. Got to get it ready to take to the Stray Kat 500 next weekend. I Graduated in '64, bought this new in July of '65 and got drafted in April of '66, my Dad sold it while I was in Basic Training. Musta thought I wasn't going to make it back!!
Ok. I posted earlier in this thread-years ago- so update photo. New wheels on the olds so here's a photo update a before and after. I prefer the WWW look but things got in the way so its onto mags now
So what are the plans then? is it running? looks a little sad, but that could be deceiving just from sitting?

This Mordor was posted back in 2008 (pg3) by Silhouettes 57and in my opinion it's worth another look! Lot's of cool little touches... … such as the Corvette grill, '55 Olds front bumper, frenched headlights and antenna.
