Looks like a decent car for sure and the price may not be as nuts as it seems. But, pretty sure I will never want any 32 that bad.

Preserving the ad and photos for the future. I could only take screenshots so they're not the best quality images.

I could fix the dumb stuff on the finished four-carb black one, and still be under the purchase price of the barn find.

It’s funny how nowadays a lot of the work needed on an old car is knocking the 80’s off of it instead of rust repair.

Yep and if you want a shiny black Vicky that's probably the way to go. To me the interior of that car looks 80's too. I'm curious how you would do wheels and tires, interior, dash and gauges, suspension, headlight bar, etc., for under $5K. At least that's what I think it needs to not look so 80's. I guess our prices for that stuff in Canada are probably higher, too.

In the ad for the flathead one, there is no mention of whether the body is original steel or not, and '32 Victoria bodies are reproduced in fiberglass. If it is indeed original steel, I think that's a fantastic price, and a better deal than the "barn find" one even if the barn find price got cut in half. But if the finished one is fiberglass, I personally wouldn't even consider it.

Someone with deep pockets & wanting a weathered & worn example may well step up to latch on to it or at least negotiate a number to their liking, seen it happen with a 3 window at a Nebraska auction few years ago, then I'm told it later resold for a fraction of the winning bid.

A 32 Fordor body only sold here at an auction I was at in 2009 for what at the time seemed like way too much money ($5,500). It later was listed on the local classifieds for $1,000 less. Didn't make much sense.

Well, dang! That didn't last long. Apparently, it has sold. Don't know for how much but I'm sure it's more than I thought it was worth. :D

I, for one, am not surprised at all. The whole tenor of this thread was surprising to me. Untouched cars in this kind of shape seem to be in the highest demand category these days.

And that pricing Ladies and Gentlemen is why I’ll never own a 32 Ford, or a 40 either for that matter. I’ll just stick to my odd and orphan stuff that nobody else wants…..

. The fact that it sold answers the question you asked in your first post

Timing, model, region, speculation among so many other details are key to a good outcome really...

Blah, blah, blah...the life of a picker...or you have one? Hopefully the someone got a better deal on it...it looked pretty solid at least on the drivers side...

Reminds me of that 32 I think it was a Victoria in the viney bushes about 4-5 years ago...that caused a quite a stir too...anyone remember that?

I've seen plenty ads that were marked sold then later relisted by the same individual at lower prices, he was getting beat up pretty good on the groups he had it listed on.

Years ago I wanted one really bad. I started out with everything Vicky from behind the doors, some mint 2 dr. doors, a cowl, firewall and drip rails taken from a 4 door I bought at a farm sale. I built a new chassis and Andy's Restoration in Saint Libory NE. worked his magic. When it was finished no one could tell it was a Frankenstein car. I sold it to a man in PA. then it went to CA where Brizio did some work on it. 2 years ago I ran into the then current owner who wanted some information about the car. He had been advertising it for sale as a mint original Vicky. When I told him the truth he left very disgruntled.

Post #32 up above has a screen shot of all pics and the ad. $45K to purchase plus another $75K and you'd have a $60K car. Sounds like a great deal to me.

Especially if it's fixed...does that still happen? When you're in the hunt I guess you have follow your gut wherever they show up...

Yep. Me too. At $40k it seems like somebody here should snap it up. Dayum. Wheels/tires, some other minor stuff and it's a jewel.

Except that the guys that are really into this type of stuff won't do what normal people do. They'll try to "finish" it while trying to keep it in as original "as found" condition as possible. I saw Dale Walksler do this with a '12 or '13 Harley. At auction, it brought almost double what a perfectly restored identical bike brought.

Lots of these cars coming out now. All the guys in my local V8 club are over 80 and their numbers are dropping, quickly. Each of them has one, two or three just like this. The avalanche is coming.

Glad I didn't buy it! I would have made a clone of the Vulcan's Vicky and gotten rid of all that patina and covered it with Purple lacquer.
Some people can't leave a good thing alone.
