ON THE FIRST KICK! HELL YEAH!! THERE GOES THE NEIGHBOURHOOD!

  1. We got the Trump running!

Let me tell ya! And yes... You can laugh your**** off if you want!
You've probably read about the starting trouble I had... After trying out all kinds of stuff, I did a compression test, and found out a difference in compression between the two cylinders. That's when I decided to take the head off, shave it, and remount it with a thicker gasket.
Now you can laugh... When taking off the head, I found out that "MisterFlyinDutchmanTheFuckinJetMechanicNitPickerDude" forgot to torque his headbolts!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
That was probably the biggest problem of starting it... But I coulnd't stand the compression difference too... Of course that also had to do with the head not being tight.

We shaved the head, made an all new gasket, adjusted the gaps on the plugs once more, and torqued everyting down very well...
Now it starts very well!! Hot or cold, it doesn't matter!! One kick and it's runnin'!!

Another lesson learned! I had the engine standing in the garage for a while and thought I would torque the headbolts when it was mounted in the frame. It would be easier that way to put the force on the bolts... Yeah right... I just forgot to write it down and forgot about the whole thing...

We put a little video up on the website in the video section. Check it out! www.deadendcruisers.com

This is a frame cut from the vid... I have more but it takes ages to load 'em with Starphoto... My photobucket.com account is not workin' yet...

Yeah man, Triumphs do have a real fine sound.
Hearing a high compression 650 pulling hard in top gear at a long track like Brainerd or Daytona is a real thrill.
Some bikes sound like tractors and some like sewing machines but there is nothin like a Brit vertical twin for that "ripping" exhaust note.

Bike looks really cool but really uncomfortable, are you going to stick with those bars? BTW did you ever get that Joe Hunt decal you were looking for?

  18. very cool man, congrats. I would be proud as hell of that thing.

  19. Hey! Thanks guys!

Barnett... You should be able to download a Windows Media Player through our website... Look at the little thumbnail at the top of the vids page.

Muttley... I've seen some Joe Hunt stuff, but not what I was looking for yet... I'll find it some day...

Holy***** I'm so jealous. Rad to see that thing come to life and it sounds great. A Triumph like that is my next project for sure.
