I'm posting this under my husband's handle. This is my "beater," daily driver, a 40 Opera Coupe that we were married in in December 1975. I finally got to drive it again Saturday, after Dave "finally" got it re***embled ,(after 33 years) November 8, 2008. Took it out to the local Sat nite get together at the Springs It is still a work in progress. I haven't finished the interior or paint yet, but the important thing is that it is running and safe and I can drive it again. HOORAY!! It has a Chevy 350/350, dual master cylinder with disc brakes up front, dropped axle, 57 Chev rear end, etc., I "borrowed" a bunch of his parts off of his 40 sedan delivery, but hey... what are husbands for? After all, doesn't the saying go What is his is ours and what is mine is mine? I'm taking it to the Good Guys in Scottsdale this weekend, along with his finished "50s style" 40 Coupe. Hope to see some HAMBrs there again this year. Here is a couple of pics. His Suzie
That's a cool car. Have fun this weekend with it. So, you guys were actually married in that car? No back seat. I ***ume the honeymoon was somewhere else.
Very nice "beater" My wife's version is Whats hers is hers, Whats mine is hers, You already owe me so don't even ask s.
I agree, looks great as is. What were ya thinkin' as far as paint? What color was it when ya got married? Any pics you can post from the wedding w/you guys and the car? Got my wife a nice driver/beater '66 Impala convert.....she gave it back. Ed
Congratulations! Any day another 40 Ford is back on the road is a day for celebration, especially if it's yours! BTW, you are now in my photo album of 39/40 Fords.
Well, actually we drove it to and from the church. Here are some pics of it. Oh yes, this is an Opera Coupe so it does have back seats, two that fold down from the side. Not very useable, but seats just the same.
HE really wants to paint it black, I drove it for in primer before and LOVED how I didn't have to worry about rock chips, but hey, since he is doing all the work on it I'm not complaining. I'm in no hurry to get is painted, I just have to finish the interior. Mainly b because it will be a little quieter. Oh yes, he gave me a set of his ORIGINAL Smittys.
