As some of you know my 46 Chevy Coupe has been down for 1.5 years due to making a previous bad choice of restore/repair shop. They had stripped it down for everything on my list of needs, totally disabling the car and then lost all desire to finish any of the many items needing repair. Just excuses & promises with no to very little progress. So last month I trailered it home & began to shop around for a new shop for repairs needed. Just so you know although I am 79 years old I do know how to do all this myself but this old wore out body just will not cooperate with me doing much of this myself so I need a good shop. After a few conversations with Kris at Empire Garage in Victoria they came out & trailered in in and just 2 weeks later I picked it up with about 3/4 of all the repairs done including complete wiring harness replacement & vintage air installation, reinstalled the interior previously removed and a bunch of small jobs on my list. I took it out of the shop with work incomplete the day the AACA Texas Tour began with antique cars from all over the State so I could attend with plans to come back soon for the rest of work needed. Our local Club was the Host of this event this year I really wanted my little coupe there although it was still looking a bit ragged with the incomplete restoration - New shocks and paint touch up due to severely rusting clips holding the stainless trim on both rear quarters. I took it with the ugly showing with stainless removed on the quarters. Car ran great in the tours & in the AACA (severe originality judging) it actually took second place in the 39 thru 48 closed car class with the ugly on the quarters and with the hot rod engine (1957 235 inline 6 with dual 2 barrel carbs, headers, lots of chrome & polished aluminum on engine with lots of internal engine mods they could not see. My thanks to the guys at Empire - Kris, Justin & the others and it will be going back to finish with shock upgrades and paint touchup and a few more things on the list of needs when they can work me back in. I will definitely be looking for shows & other events with some road trips now. I added a photo of the coupe before trim removed . My avatar is my engine. Jimmie
Jimmie my Buick is in their Austin location now. I couldn’t be happier with the crew there, it’s the kind of service and abilities I’ve been waiting to arrive in ATX. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
