I found a nice long handled, swivel heat MATCO 3/8" drive ratchet. It's been a very handy tool to have.

I also "found" a pinion gear out an 18 wheeler on the interstate once. I located it with the bottom of the transaxle of my Saab . It knocked a hole the size of your fist into the case. The tractor was on the side about a mile ahead. :)

I worked with a utilities company for the past 28 years, I was on call and had to show up to the power pole hits in the middle of the night when the bars closed and all the drunks would head out to hit something. I found a big collection of porn tapes from a roll over, another night a lady hit a pole and rolled her car about 100 feet down the road took all night to get every thing fixed, I walked the road in the daylight and found her purse had been opened and spilled out all over the ditch on the oposite side of the road had a lot of unmentionables including a battery operated devise.
Mostly I filled my tool box with hammers, pliers and screwdrivers about 25 to 30 tools I have found over the years. I did find a manican that scared me to near wet my self it was in a culvert and looked like a real person took it back to the shop and posed it in the men's room waving at every one that came in only lasted a day until management found it and said it was not appropriate, I think he took it home with him, kind of an odd character.

5 or 6 heavy-duty moving/furniture blankets (found at various locations), plus many more that I was not able to get to. I've also spotted enough electrical extension cords, hoses and ladders to start a resale business ... I'm not quick enough to dodge 3 or 4 lanes of L.A. freeway traffic to retrieve them, though.

I found a milk crate in the middle of the road just a couple of months back. I just got out for the crate. It had a pair of Craftsman brand vise grips, a tow strap, a can of bearing grease, a couple of screwdrivers and a pair of Craftsman gloves for wearing when you're working on stuff. :D

In the middle of the road early in the morning, about 30 years ago. It was still dark, on the way to work. An anvil.

As luck would have it, I saw the shadow, was slowing down to make a turn and as I swerved to miss it, it GOT REAL BIG! It would have ripped out a lot of stuff on the bottom of my car if I'd hit it. As it turned out it was a prime quality horseshoeing anvil, weighed over 80#, sold it at a swap meet............

I did pick up 2 new pieces of 12 foot long 2 x 4"s that fell out of some ones truck... I grabbed'em and threw'em in my pickup and drove home very carefully. :D I used those for a 4 x 8' table I made for the hobby room in the basement. :)

Best I ever found was a $100 bill in a cinema parking lot. But this thread is hilarious.

My and my Girlfriend (wife now) were driving along and saw a muffler and tail pipe in the middle of the road. Figured I'd stop and throw it to the side before somebody hit it, reached down and grabbed it.....it was HOTTER THEN HELL! It must have some out from under somebodys car as they were driving down the road. Burnt the hell out of my hand. I had a 44 oz cup of iced tea and stuck my hand in it as she drove us home. Needless to say if I move anything out of the road now I kick it to the side.

Me and a buddy were driving between Monroe,La. and Alexandria,La. one night around midnight when we passed by a pretty good looking woman walking. My buddy said "Stop, she's naked", so I turned around and sure enough it was one of the best looking women I've ever seen before. And she was buck naked, except for the wadded up shirt she was carrying. We stopped, she said she needed a ride to the hospital. She moved the wadded up and she had been stabbed in the stomach. We were 30 miles from anywhere so we decided to take her to the hospital in Alexandria since we were headed there anyway. I was freaked and driving like a wild man. Got pulled over by a State Trooper and tried to explain this one. He finally followed us to the hospital where we were DETAINED the rest of the night. We were LET GO the next morning. Try explaining that one to your new wife. I think I would've been in less SHIT with the wifey if I had stabbed the poor woman. As I explained the whole story to my wife, she became real interested in why I would be stopping to pick up a naked woman anyway.Steven.

When I was a kid I found a crescent wrench on the side of the road. I didnt have many tools so I grabbed and put it in my pocket and forgot about it. Well it fell out of my pocket during class and the old bag of a teacher took me to the office and called my mother . My mother said I could bring it home. The old bag thought I might hit someone over the head with it on the bus. Why would I do that I thought? At least I got to keep the wrench. I never did like the old bitty.

I was driving along and started seeing dollar bills flaoting around.I stopped and began "harvesting" them. I was up to $500 and then I found the wallet. I knew then I had to return the money. The guy had probably laid it on his top when he was getting gas.
I found an ID and mailed him the wallet and $$$.
Never did get a thank you note.
I've also found tool boxes with tools.
I ride old motorcycles a lot.I can't tell you how many times I've found enough stuff to fix the bike.

  27. This spring I noticed an old frame in a field so next time by I stopped to take a look. Stepped down the bank to cross a ditch and lo and behold there was an AMC factory slot mag laying there withe axle flange still attached! Must have broken off a car during an accident.Good tire on it too! I'll sell it at the swap meet....

Did she tell you what happened?? That's pretty spooky. How bad was she shanked?

And did you tell her "Gas, Grass, or Ass baby... pick 2"... yeah, I'm a dirt bag.

A Levi jacket, my size. An ice cold 12 pack of Budweiser and an ice cold 6 pack of Heineken on different occasions. Then the usual bungee cords, small tools and a kitten. That was on my motorcycle. I pulled over to wait for a friend while he went back for his sunglasses that blew off. We're miles from any houses and here comes a kitten out of the grass. I shooed him back away from the road. On our way back several hours later I stopped at the same spot and here he came again. I picked him up and put him beind the windshield. When I started the bike he just sat there so I started rolling and he didn't budge. I kept one hand on him but he stayed there the rest of the way home. He got out few months later and I saw someone stop and pick him up. They were gone before I could get my car started. Hope they were good to him.
