Not criticizing but I think some people think things like, "Well, with fender mirrors and the optional trunk, this is one of only two known." If the same were applied to model A-s they could be whittled down to rare combos. These were all comparable marques at the time yet those less popular like dodge, Star, etc, don't now command much more than a comparable Model A. They are indeed "rarer" but the desirability doesn't follow in many cases. Just saying this as I looked for a Durant roadster years ago and there were several for sale. Not sure what combos those were in comparison but my Grandfather had one as a kid during the depression and told me of running it off the road and through a barbed wire fence saying that, based on the damage, had the windshield been down, as they most often drove it, he and his friends could have been decapitated. I thought I would like to get one but not really justifiable at such prices. I'd get into Packards first! Great car though! Please don't hot rod that! D
I get what you mean @dmar836, just because a car may be rare doesn't automatically make it desirable. Few years ago I bought a C10 for my girlfriend. We went to pick it up outside of Tulsa. The guy had 5 or 6 1969 Chargers. He said, "that car there has the rarest engine. There were only four made. Do you know what it is?" I said, "I don't know...a hemi?" Thinking there were more than 4 hemis. He said, "No. A slant six." I thought I'm surprised there were four, who the hell wants a Charger with a slant six?!? I realize the car I referred to is off topic. Was just using it to illustrate a point.
